In English this half term, our focus will be on preparing for the terminal Entry Level examination, which the students will sit in May 2020. The students have worked in a really focused and determined way to ensure that they have completed the internally assessed components. This means that our lessons can now be dedicated to exam preparation. Alongside this, we will do some GCSE English Literature preparation too by studying selected poems.
In Maths, our focus will be on completing the internally assessed components of the Entry Level qualification. At times, this might feel quite intense: there are 3 more non-examination assessments to complete and 4 independent investigations to complete.
Our topic work will focus on World War Two. As well as learning some of the historical facts and learning about some of the key figures, students will engage in creative tasks such as making model Anderson shelters and model Spitfires.
In PSHE we will learn how to build and maintain friendships and
how to manage their feelings when things don’t go as they had planned.
Forest school will continue every Wednesday and the students will engage in live action role play.
As we await the completion of our new cooking facilities, Thursday afternoons will now focus on STEM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
