Arden Fields School celebrating World Book Day
Thursday March 1st 2018
What is World Book Day? World Book Day is the annual celebration of books, authors and illustrators. It is an opportunity to inspire a love of reading in students and for pupils and teachers to dress up as their favourite characters.
Well here at Arden Fields we had a grand morning celebrating and there was anticipation in the air as each person arrived at school. We had a Wally from Where’s Wally, a tiger from A Tiger Came to Tea, Gangster Granny and her accomplish from Gangster Granny, Lord Asriel from The Golden Compass, Scooby Doo, Harry Potter, A Wimpey Kid, Annie, a minecraft character, Spiderman and Batman just to name but a few.
As you can see from the photograph everyone thoroughly enjoyed joining in and there was much fun and laughter.
Pupils and staff each brought in their favourite book from home and discussed the reason the book was so special to them.
At the end of the day pupils were given the opportunity to take a book home free of charge. The books had been very generously donated by Own Books, a scheme to encourage young readers and remove any financial barriers to reading.
